Tourism
Culpeper is midway between the Washington skyline and Skyline
Drive, Mount Vernon and Monticello, Bull Run and Appomattox, and
between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the deep blue Atlantic. This
means that savvy travelers can spend their evenings in a place
of timeless beauty and charm.
Culpeper is rich in history, with roots predating the Revolutionary
War. The Museum of
Culpeper History offers history buffs a splendid collection
of dinosaur tracks, Indian artifacts, Civil War relics, historic
photographs, and friendly advice.
A Walking Tour through the Historic Town
of Culpeper provides a genuine study in American Colonial
and Victorian architecture, dating back to 1749. Culpeper's quaint
shops, galleries, and restaurants are an original Town Center.
The Historic Train Depot, the region's gateway during the late
18th Century was renovated in 2000.
Civil War Battlefields include the Battles of Brandy Station,
Cedar Mountain, Kelly's Ford and Culpeper.
Vineyard Tours are available at more than 40 farm wineries tucked
away in the slopes of Virginia's rolling hills.
