General District Court
The Culpeper County General District Court has
jurisdiction over cases involving traffic and criminal misdemeanors
(which carry up to a one year jail sentence and up to a $2500.00
fine). Cases are tried and punishment is imposed. Preliminary hearings,
bond hearings, and extradition proceedings involving felonies are
also held in General District Court. Please note that all cases
set for 8:30 a.m. are for arraignment only and will not be tried
on that date – see F.A.Q.
